I posted this as a bug report and they closed it saying that the bug is now fixed. However, no public announcement has been made.

(Also didn’t get my items back, which is shitty “staffing”)

This has been indeed fixed as items will not disappear anymore, if everything goes as planned. However the disappeared items will not be given back, sadly.
